With Tweed you can have timeline, replies, direct messages, trending topics, custom keyword searches and the public timeline.With SPAZ you can also open multiple Twitter accounts at the same time. You can also filter the replies and direct messages. Although Spaz is slower than Tweed, it doesn’t support location.Tweed is however considered better but i found minimal difference among the two, infact SPAZ interface was much better than tweed.

10) gDial Pro : It is a free app that enables Palm Pre owners to user their Google Voice account on their Palm Pre smartphones.

Can it get any more ridiculous? Palm latest OS update 1.2.1 now enables Palm pre users to once again sync their phone with Apple iTunes.

Palm has done it once again and I think lets just admit Apple cannot Handle Palm . This is sheer frustration coming out from Apple employees. One must not forget that more Apple iPhones are currently running on hacks than the authentic ones.So if one is not able to secure  the software this is what will happen, your competitor takes advantage of it. One may say that Palm is loosing credibility but after so many updates and efforts Apple has still not been able to do what it wants, so in a way one can also say it might just be the opposite (gaining credibility).Still the game is interesting.

Palm Pre has a 3 Megapixel camera but it didn’t had any software for video recording till now . But from now onwards you can record a video from your pre at 320×480 resolution and at 30fps though it can support 720×480 video at 30fps. Thanks to Homebrew coders for developing a very needed software. Why would an iPhone competitor(Closest one) would bet against iTunes which is only used for iPods and iPhones?This was one of the doubt which many people had in their mind and just when we thought Palmn has lost its way it has come back again. Palm pre was already expecting Apple to take such a move as they have already found more than one security loop holes which they can exploit . And they are ready for the challenge, this justifies that why a competitor would rely on its opponent software .

Palm has just released webOS 1.1.0, and the changelog is extensive. In addition to ” Resolves an issue preventing media sync from working with latest version of iTunes (8.2.1)” you’ll find other gems like:

Apple would take every step to discourage its sales.Pre programmers who were happy to exploit the hole were not only disappointed but Pre also lost one of its strongest feature.

However in another tale of events between the Apple and the Microsoft, Microsoft’s ads which show mac as an expensive and a lavish item not for common people ,Microsoft recieved a call from Apple’s legal office on removing these portions ads.Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer, claimed that this campaign has rattled Apple. “All of our research shows that our ‘I’m a PC’ ads, [which] talk dramatically about the price of Macintoshes, work quite effectively,” he said. “We’ve gained market share quite effectively against Apple over the past six to nine months.”

Well, he would say that, wouldn’t he? But his colleague Kevin Turner reported that “two weeks ago we got a call from the Apple legal department saying, ‘Hey, you need to stop running those ads, we lowered our prices.’ They took like $100 off or something. It was the greatest single phone call that I’ve ever taken in business.” So, Turner went on, “we’re just going to keep running them and running them and running them.”

The comparison is straight where Pre has a small share in smartphone industry compared to Apple iPhone , and Apple has a small share in the Computer industry compared to Microsoft.
On one hand Apple tries to discourage its competitor pre it recieves the same response ftom the Microsoft .

Palm pre which was able to sync with Apple’s iTunes 8.2 version and used the iTunes library to sync itself up by posing as an iPod to Apple’s iTunes, would be able to work with previous versions of iTunes.

Apple was soon able to figure out a security hole in the iTunes and announced in June that “does not provide support for, or test for compatibility with, non-Apple digital media players” and warned that “newer versions of Apple’s iTunes software may no longer provide syncing functionality” with them.

The hole has now been fixed by Apple,which was pretty much expected. Apple stated in the release of 8.2.1 that “also disables devices falsely pretending to be iPods, including the Palm Pre”.

However Pre’s response stated that if Apple chooses to disable media sync in iTunes, it will be a direct blow to their users who will be deprived of a seamless synchronization experience.Pre is also thinking of taking other third party applications to sync Pre in place of iTunes or it would enable a direct drag drop to transfer media files.

Apple might have taken a step to wipe out Pre’s one of the advanvantages but Pre has more advantages which Apple iPhone cannot beat, certainly the multitasking and the lower usage cost the difference comes to about $1200 between an iPhone and a Pre as per usage taken in a span of 2 years. The recent addition of Mojo SDK for Pre is another window which Pre might be looking at to increase  participation and give a healthy competition to the iPhone.

While the competition seemed one sided as iPhone 3GS was a clear winner ,now with the release of SDK we can expect some fightback. The Apple iPhone’s major strength has always been its strong App store while all other envy , most of them have only made a start and are way lagging behind Apple’s App store.

Development in Mojo SDK seems simpler and comprehendable (Atleast initially though havent tried much), the site also given some preliminary examples as Hello world! which might be of interest to [Probable]developers who are not so professional in their approach. Palm might just be able to develop its own market if the SDK really proves out to be easier/comprehend able to program.

2. Opening Email Inbox: How quickly you can check your email(Gmail for testing) account,N97 has live feed widgets which refresh realtime.

Results: Nokia N97(1.3seconds) ,iPhone 3G S(1.4s) &  Palm Pre(7.5s)

3. Adding a Contact: Each phone requires 2 taps and how quickly you are able to add a contact.

Results: iPhone 3G S(2.4 seconds),Nokia N97(2.5s) & Palm Pre(5.9s)

4. Booted Associated press Application: This was a third party app on all three phones,Test tried to show how quickly a third party app starts and loads content.

Results: iPhone 3G S(3.8 seconds),Nokia N97(15.1s) & Palm Pre(15.4s)

The results showed that iPhone 3G S is clearly leading and Nokia 97 despite having a lower configuration closely followed the iPhone in many cases.Though there are many variables involved like 3G network, OS platform but the mandate was clear its iPhone 3G S the Fastest Smartphone available.However the Palm pre trailed in most of them but the interface and the net surfing was quite comfortable than other contenders.
