And after Microsoft annoucement of taking Office to the web here comes another one the launching of Windows Azure.

Windows Azure , is basically a software for developers where you keep/store the life cycle of your application you are developing online. Not only this it would also provide features such as version control and help a developer in better analysis of the application . Windows Azure would provide an integrated platform combining visual studio, the cloud or the fabric and would incorporate all the necessary API which a developer can use and download it as an SDK and then upload the application into the cloud.

A couple of years ago there was a buzz among mobile users and operators about the latest technology which was about to come to shape, The Mobile TV. Since then . Though mobile TV has recently been lossing momentum but supportoers say that mobile TV is yet to gain its full momentum.

Though there can be many reason why Mobile TV isnt gaining its momentum is probably because of low quality video and secondly it goes against top companies products such as Sony,LG,Samsung and many more. However there are some users which are willing to use their mobile phone as television and watch entire episodes on it ,reason portability.

Mobile TV might still have a chance by the arrival of iPhone(Bigger screen mobile devices) and the 3G service which might enable the mobile TV developers to display high detailed videos on their mobile phones.

There is a good news for all the mobile phone users, which ever mobile you have,Now you would be able to charge it anywhere using any[ 10 companies] mobile chargers .Mobile phone users will be able to charge multiple handsets using a single plug, after manufacturers agreed to adopt the Micro USB standard for universal charging .

Ten companies, including Apple, LG, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson, have submitted a Memorandum of Understanding to the European Commission pledging to start making phones that can be charged using a single charger. The Mirco USB charger would be more energy efficient than current mobile chargers and so far this step has been welcomed by all the companies after repeated pressure by the European Commision to lauch a common charger for all the mobile Phones.

Every Mobile from next year ( from these 10 companies) would have a special micro USB slot which would be used for charging.Since this slot would be common in every mobile(starting next year),this would not only promote reusability of the chargers but would also result in lesser electronic waste .

“By supporting this industry initiative on common charging solutions, and enabling consumers to choose if they need a charger with every new device or can reuse existing ones, we can contribute further in improving the industry’s environmental footprint,” said Mitti Storckovius, a senior director at Nokia.[Source:Telegraph]

Previous Week Samsung launched world’s first ever Solar powered Mobile phone, now Nokia is coming up with a technology where phone that could charge themselves. These are not solar powered they use another technology charging though radio waves. No, this is not a new technology, infact we have been using this technology in Oyster cards used by London commuters , powering themselves from radiowaves emitted by the reader devices as they are swiped. Modern radio frequency identification (RFID) tags also use the same technology(powered purely by radiowaves) and are increasingly used in shipping and as antitheft devices.Ambient electromagnetic radiation–emitted from Wi-Fi transmitters, cell-phone antennas, TV masts, and other sources–could be converted into enough electrical current to keep a battery topped up, says Markku Rouvala, a researcher from the Nokia Research Centre, in Cambridge, U.K.
They believe that if they are able to harness 50 milliwatts of energy then slow charging of the battery is possible,So far Nokia research centre protype has been able to harness about 3-5 milliwatt energy .Their short-term goal is to get in excess of 20 milliwatts, enough power to keep a phone in standby mode indefinitely without having to recharge it. But this would not be enough to actually use the phone to make or receive a call.
But Nokia Research Center, in Cambridge, U.K. is optimistic of achieving their target in 3-4 years of time.Though 50 milliwatts would only be able to power the phone only but the potential would be huge as a typical mp3 player only requires about 100 milliwatts which can be optimised in the due course of time.Source:Guardian,Technology review
But still the energy obtained might not be enough to run a 3G or a touch screen phone ,but what if we are able to combine different technologies as the Solar power and the radio wave power. The possibilities are infinite lets see what future holds.

Its other features include dual GSM bands (900/1800MHz),1.52-inch 65K CSTN screen, Mobile Tracker, Fake Call, 800mAh battery,FM radio, MP3 ring tones, embedded games and torchlight. Made out of recycled material, the new handset is free from harmful substances such as beryllium and phthalates. The hybrid solar recharge phone delivers around 5-10 minutes of talk time with one-hour of solar charging when the handset is turned off and sunlight has adequate intensity. The battery will attain full power with about 40 hours of solar charging. On similar lines the counter part “Blue Earth” which is a touch phone delivers 4 hours out of 12 hours of charging. But still my take is Soloar powered phones have a lot to cover in terms of getting people rid of battery charging .

This phone is targetted towards rural India especially people residing in areas facing power crunch so that they can rely on solar charging to remain connected.Certainly the cutting edge technology such as solar power would boost its sale and help samsung to make inroads into the Indian rural sector.

After India it is all set to roll out in other Asian, latin american and european markets.
