Lets see what all things can happen when you drop your iPhone and what all can be done to save your iPhone:

1.) I Dropped my iPhone on the floor : The structure of the iPhone is such that it can sustain impact from a certain height but if your iPhone is dropped from a height of more than 3 meters then there are chances of getting cracks on the screen and dents of your iPhone does not have a strong casing. There have been cases where the iPhone vibrator had stopped working. The LCD screen might get misaligned or cable inside the phone that conects the screen to the board had come loose and the screen appears to be dim or it might not even startup.

In all the above cases there is a very good chance that your warranty is not void, so go to apple support.

2.) I Dropped my iPhone in Water: This is the worse case than above as Apple does not give any warranty on iPhone if it fell in water. The iPhone can be easily detected it has fallen in water or not. The two images shown , one shows a pink colored bottom of the jack plug this has been changed irreversibly form white when it came in contact with water.Water contact can not only harm the speaker and vibrator of the iPhone but if water comes in contact with the battery, the whole iPhone circuit will be corrupted.What you can do if your iPhone drops in water, is remember DO NOT TURN IT ON or press any button, try to dry it up using a hair dryer and keep it under dry conditions. People have even used putting their iPhones in a bag of rice and it had worked though i do not understand the logic of it. In case it doesn’t start, you can try drying it up for weeks and then going upto Apple store for replacement. Many times this thing has gone undetected and people have got a free replacement. check this out

I am personally facing a few different kind of networks just check in case you also suffer from these and this post would be helpful for you.

You are in a WIFI zone with a proxy server with a password security option that is as soon as you connect you would be asked for Password for that connection. Where can you find such…In small scale WIFI networks such as your home or Office , in such networks you are asked for the password to get connected to the router and thereafter you can access internet .

In your iPhone open settings then wifi and you would be shown your Wifi network name click on the little arrow sign and check that iP Address is assigned by DHCP (Mostly DHCP or STATIC in case you want to give everything manually ) then turn the HTTP Proxy to Manual or Auto and just enter the server and port number of your corresponding server.This works perfectly .

And in Case you are asked for authentication or you have a username and password for internet access then turn the authentication on and enter your username and password.  But in my case this does not work as though I am able to access internet from Safari but I am unable to download and I repeatedly get the error of disconnected while downloading any app . More would be updated soon as soon as I am able to figure out an answer to this.

4. Using your SIM in a strange way: Yup, its strange but this is what people have posted on the blogs/forums. Take out your SIM and put it in some old Nokia or any other mobile phone till it catches the signal i.e the signal bars appear then remove the SIM and put it in your iPhone.
No success for me!!


err.. just change the last line its now  success for me . I searched on internet how does this happened and why does this happened, though I could not find anything concrete I am just posting my analysis of what I think happened and How my iPhone started working .

After 1 full month I took out the SIM from my old NOKIA mobile phone and inserted it into the dead iPhone , it showed signal then it turned down to zero signal to no signal then to no SIM Installed . When I inserted my sim again it did not show any signal but the old message No SIM Installed. Then later in the day I again put my SIM back into the iPhone and once again it shows signal but they dip down to zero and then to NO SIM INSTALLED.

Few months ago I was living in a metropolitan and I never experienced any problems ( Apart from the dropping of calls in between) then I came to this place somewhere 400 km from that metropolitan where the signal strength was quite weak(Only for the iPhone not for NOKIA). My iPhone was working fine here for 1 month (apart from dropping of calls )but it finally gave up.

My Conclusion: iPhone requires more signal strength to operate than other mobile phones thus if you are at a place with low signal strength chances are that you phone might end up as mine.

But this does not justifies everything why does then transferring of SIM from Nokia cellphone to iPhone make it work.


SIM stores some electric charge as it can store your contacts and some memory is inbuild . When SIM is inside NOKIA it gets charged sufficiently and when I insert into the iPhone the same charge seems to be less for the iPhone thats why it slowly drips down to zero and no SIM.

The above also explains why replacing your old SIM with a new one works for a lot of people. A new SIM has its structure intact and holds charge which iPhone detects easily and thus it starts working.


If your iPhone is still not working try sending few sms’s from you old NOKIA using that same SIM and then put it back into iPhone . I think the problem is the iPhone’s SIM jacket which makes marks on SIM and SIM eventually gives up holding the charge.
