We can now search from pictures (Though I am not completely convinced which need of searching would it cater to).But Microsoft seems pretty confident on this: “The whole concept is that the world of search is going to change,” said Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi.

The only thing I can think of is this ::

Evolving such a new concept as picture search would help Microsoft Bing to provide a more rosy picture to its advertisers . In short, advertisers on Bing can now put image ads in search as compared to text ads which are not much appealing on Google. This concept of searching through pictures might not be of much use to the end users ,as searching as one cannot simply search for a picture if she’s unaware of its name and searching by picture’s characteristics would give more accurate results in Google than in Bing.

Try out Bing Visual Search

There wass a sense of inquisitiveness among many users which were deprived of Android because their mobiles lacked Android support .Now they can download Android on their machines and get the lok and feel of Android OS.

Andoid Emulator was however available in the Android SDK released earlier but the release of LIVE ANDROID IMAGE would defininitely be what many had in their minds, you get to try all the features of Android. This would increase the popularity of Android among users and many bloggers claim that Google Chrome OS might just be a better or upgraded version of the Android OS [ Which suports the idea of releasing a PC friendly version of Android].

Android Emulator can be downloaded now and can be run by making a bootable CD. After rebooting you just need to select Android operating system in the OS choice menu by pressing alt+f1 or alt+f7.

Android has already gained much praise and different versions of Android have gained huge popularity among users and even those who are not using it.

The news about Google OS is all around and in recent announcement of Google’s quarterly earnings 9which did prove that Google determined to move forward and progress ) Google CEO Eric Schmidt did state that Google Chrome OS would not be profitable venture for Google.

“Because it’s open source, we do not plan to charge for it, in an open source form. There may be other ways we can make money from it. The core operating system, if you look at the blog post, we said it was an open source project and it should be available for anyone else to use. We do this with a lot of products. For example our Android product… There are many other pieces of technology that Google builds [that we don't charge for].

The rough argument is we do things that are strategic because they get people to ultimately use the Internet in a clever and new way. We know that if they use the Internet more, they search more, watch more on YouTube, and we then know that our advertising [will reach them]. We do not require each and every project to be completely profitable or not profitable — we look at them in a strategic context: are they making the Web a better place?”

By making the web a better place, by getting more and more people online — especially on broadband connections — we have lot of data that says this results in very, very strong revenue growth from us because of targeted ads that we offer.“[Google CEO Eric Schmidt]

This definitely sounds to be a strategy as if Google is able to make a stronger hold in the OS market the internet usage might be increased and since internet is where Google believe its domain is, they would bring people to their domain.

While I strongly believe that Google Chrome OS would be a marked step in changing the architecture of the Internet [ as they stated for Google Wave] but this time not only software Google’s tie up with hardware manufacturer’s would enable Google to implement a replacement for the 20 year old internet architecture. And since that architecture would differ from traditional one it would be tougher for viruses and other malwares to break in the OS.

At the end we can say that users would be provided with a faster ,speedier and secure internet on Google Chrome OS which would then be a suitable platform for cloud computing.

We have seen a lot of Android based phones in the past weeks and every version has its own unique and amazing feature associated with it, whether it is amazing user interface(Sense UI),augmented reality browser or flash enabled internet browsers. The latest in this list is the Rachel UI.

Rachel UI is the latest Google Android version evolved.Sony Ericson’s latest release Rachel would be incorporating this user interface and once you watch the video below you will get to know the elegance of this UI. The most amazing feature is the unified messaging interface that displays Facebook, Twitter, email, SMS, and calls all from one screen.

Google Android which is an open source would always enjoy an upper hand in operating system development for the Mobile phones. But only time can tell whether it would be enough to beat the Apple iPhone OS!

GPS was avaialable for mobiles and we have used the Google maps for finding out My location just by a single click and a blue dot appears. Now the same service would be available on our desktops or laptops as Google has launched My Location for Google Maps. However currently this service is only available for the Firefox and Chrome (both opensource) but IE already had a My Location in its Google Toolbar which was able to locate you on Google maps.

The first time you use My Location on Google Maps, you’ll be asked to confirm that you’re happy to share your location with Google Maps, and you can always undo your decision.Google Maps takes advantage of the W3C Geolocation API standard. The Geolocation API is a new feature available in the latest web browsers which allows any website to access your current location.

How does it work? When you activate the My Location feature, Google Maps asks your web browser for your location. Typically, your browser uses information about the Wi-Fi access points around you to estimate your location. If no Wi-Fi access points are in range, or your computer doesn’t have Wi-Fi, it may resort to using your computer’s IP address to get an approximate location.[Source :Google]

A lot of speculation had been done on whether Google OS would be free and open source. Google has finally answered to these queries and the answer is Yes. Here’s the official information from Google blog:

“Is Google Chrome OS free?

Yes – Google Chrome OS is an open source project and will be available to use at no cost.

What companies is Google working with to support Google Chrome OS?

The Google Chrome OS team is currently working with a number of technology companies to design and build devices that deliver an extraordinary end user experience. Among others, these companies include: Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments.

I’m a developer – how can I work with you?

Thanks for your interest. Later this year, the Google Chrome OS code will be open source. We’re looking forward to working with the open source community and making our own small contributions to the great work being done out there. Please stay tuned.”

Google as OS would be operating on a linux kernel with Google chrome providing the browing platform. Many people regard that Google OS would not be able to give any competition with the Windows and just as many linux OS ,Google Chrome OS would also just fade away with time.

“ChromeOS isn’t a threat. In fact it’s not even on Microsoft’s radar. It’s nice that Google is offering their philanthropic OS for all and sundry (incidentally, what are the tax implications of this kind of project?) But can it beat Windows? No and never”. Techcrunch

Though these claims might seem justified but this time linux based Google OS might just be able to move ahead despite the odds.As Google already has a variety of apps for which the OS might just be an ideal platform. More over Google is partnering with major players in laptop such as Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments. We can see a range from primarily small-form computer makers like ASUS to bigger PCs like HP and Lenovo, and the addition of Qualcomm and TI means they’ve got low-powered chipset makers on board.

I have been reading comments on other blog some of them are:

“This is exactly what Linux needed, a well-funded, technologically smart company like Google to lead it out of the darkness.”

“no native x86 code running on there, which all but nullifies any ability for people to use anything but the devices that “Google hard-codes into the thing to begin with. Otherwise, their claims of “don’t need to download security updates” and “never slows down” and “no malware” are pure bullshit.”

Addition of Adobe would mean stronger flash support and interactive interface, all this makes an impression that this would be different from the rest Linux OS which have come till now.

Google has finally entered in the arena of operating systems. It plans to take Microsoft head on by announcing its plans to create a new computer operating system aimed at laptop users. There has been an increasing talk browsers having more powers locally as well as on the internet. Recently Microsoft has even realized that internet explorer needs to improve a lot and head towards incorporating more OS like features.

The Google OS which is sheduled to be released by the second half of 2010, would be a Chrome based OS on a Linux kernel. The Chrome browser now after 9 months of release has 30 million active users, says Google, and tracking services say it has 6% or so market share.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. as stated by the Official Google Blog.

Google OS would concentrate on features as speed and web access . Most importantly the OS which would be more adapted to internet browsing and I am sure would have inbuilt support for all Google Apps,Google Wave, Google Voice and other Google gadgets.

The Best thing about this OS would be that it would be a faster, open source and more secure OS which would be absolutely free of cost. Security means you do not have to spend your money on antiviruses or other spyware items.

Windows XP which is rated to be the best OS was designed for Pentium3 or pentium 4 chips and Vista is not so popular among the users. About Microsoft 7 Bloggers and newspapers claim it is a replica of Ubuntu and definately would not be better than the Google OS.

The best thing I like that since you do not need to spend on OS and antiviruses, overall cost of Computers would become cheaper and we can buy better configuration PC’s at the same cost.

You might be knowing about Google Voice ,the latest Google Service which enables you to keep only one number for all your mobile phones, you have certain cool features available such as recording the call ,call conferencing ,converting your voice call into text and the most important part is that it might just be a free app. Unlike Google Apps which is now charging $50 for new users for a full time access(though you get a 14 day trial period),Google Voice might just be free.
