Another such incident was in 1942 ,  when searchlights converged on an unidentified object over Los Angeles on February 25, 1942. The bright blobs around the flashes are anti-aircraft shells explodingsee the pic below. But they could not identify the object or even harm the it.

And more over many people have claimed to see the monster none have any concrete proof. The fact this gets media attention encourages some people to discover the monster .
