Facemash.com the predecessor of Facebook.com has been sold at Flippa auctions recently with the highest bid of $30,2001the domain is this weeks highest sell at Flippa. In discussing his experience in selling FaceMash.com on Flippa, Jain said “This was the first time I had ever used Flippa to sell a domain and I was not disappointed. My objective was to get what was sure to be an attention getting domain on a platform that could best showcase it. In Flippa I found just that. Friendfeed now owned by Facebook!

FriendFeed the social media tracker is now owned by Facebook . Friendfeed which was started in 2007 by ex-Google employee’s introduced an innovative way wherein one can connect to feeds from different websites(Social media content) and use it for easy skimming of the latest updates.

This might prove out as an effective acquisition for Facebook which has been showing trends of shifting to real time social broadcasting.

“Since I first tried FriendFeed, I’ve admired their team for creating such a simple and elegant service for people to share information,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and chief executive.“As this shows, our culture continues to make Facebook a place where the best engineers come to build things quickly that lots of people will use.”

Facebook more popular than Bebo,Myspace & Twitter Combined!

Facebook is more popular than Bebo, MySpace and Twitter combined . This fact has come out in a BBC report based on published by mobile research firm CCS Insight ,which included persons ranging from age 16 to 35.The Report also states that “A third of young people regularly access Facebook and Twitter via their mobile”. Facebook which clearly leads the Social networking websites is more popular than Twitter was also stated in aMorgan Stanley report which stated that Most teenagers do not tweet much as after a while they figure out that nobody is viewing their profile.

Though a recent study also pointed out that Facebook consists of majority of older generation people ranging from 30+, the margin between Facebook and other sites combined would have only increased of the age bar’s were lifted off or increased. Now the above report suggests that Facebook is even more popular among teens, suggesting that Facebook is clearly leading the era of Social Networking websites and remains in top 5 websites of the year in Alexa Top 100 list.

The variety and the generations which currently have made Facebook a huge network has given Facebook a definite edge and Facebook has maintained this edge since its launch in 2005.
