“The Amazon App for Android utilizes the Amazon Remembers technology, which essentially lets users search for things they want to purchase by taking pictures of them. Snap an item you’re looking to buy and Amazon will search its store and the inventory of some 9,000 other online merchants to find it or something like it. Or if you have a specific make and model in mind, use the phone’s camera to scan its barcode, and Amazon will search for it that way. And if you do find what you’re looking for, the app uses the same secure online purchase system as Amazon’s web site.”

With the launch of this App, Android phone users can now do a comparison shop on Amazon.

Apple is working with EMI, SonyMusic, Warner Music and Universal Music Group, on a project the company has codenamed “Cocktail”, according to four people familiar with the situation.[source:Gizmodo]
The tablet would have a 10 inch touch screen and would run on iPhone OS and it can also connect to internet like the iPod and it would also have a book marketplace . This clearly suggests that Apple is trying to enter the ebook reader market by building a multipurpose device which would not only compete  most of the eBook reader’s available in the market today but also give an added advantage of touch and the class of Apple. In the current market of eBooks , a major share belongs to Amazon Kindle which has improved quite significantly but will it retain its share once Apple enters its Domain, it remains to be seen!

Chinese are known for copying and though they have tried to copy many electronic gadgets including the iphone [i68], ipod [ iPhone nano] they have always lacked the quality. Now they have come up with Amzon Kindle 2 [6 inches Screen] look alike check out the pic.

Amazon is certainly pushing in, trying to start a new revolution .The Previous Version Amazon Kindle now has a bigger screen from 6 inch in previous version to 9.7 inches in DX with a  resolution of 1200 x 824 pixels.The price has increased from $359 to $489 and the weight also has increased from 10.3 ounce to 18.9 ounce.The thickness has remained the same 1/3 inch.It also has 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack andbuilt-in stereo speakers.

Memory increased from 250 MB in original Kindle to 2GB [1.4GB user accessible] in Kindle 2 to 4 GB[3.3 GB user accessible].The text contrast has been improved unlike Kindle 2 as there are 16 shades of grey available.It also has an inbuilt support for PDF .More over the slot for an SD card has been removed.

But one short coming still remains “Kindle DX ” search feature cannot perform full-text search. Kindle technical support explains that search works only on root words and endings, such as “run”, “running”, but not “ru” or “unning”.
