iPhone 3G and 3G S might have increased  battery life and have become faster , but all this have come for a price.There has been a lot of complaints on iPhone being over heated.A number of reports have been leaking in that the iPhone 3G is prone to overheating.

But the fact that heat has an effect on battery life might act just opposite on the longer battery life . And there has been been complaints of iPhone not being charged instead becomming hot .[here].There have been talks that if there is some issue with the battery design then Apple might just have to recall the iPhone 3G .

However a poll conducted by Wired.com has feedback that may not be so alarming. A poll conducted via Twitter has shown only one report out of 21 of battery overheating. However poor battery life is an issue reported by most users.

Battery overheating has often led to recall of gadgets and laptops as in the case of Nokia batteries(BL5C ) which began exploding in many Nokia sets and a number of cases were reported. Yet it is believed to be a more serious issue with laptops rather than cell phones.

There has been many instances of  white iPhone changing its color because of overheating effect .Though there are rumours of many such incidents one blog states that:

“One forum poster reported that he left his iPhone on his pocket when he fell asleep. He reportedly woke up with a burned leg. The guy reported that he quickly pulled out his phone and saw that a part of the plastic cover melted. The strange thing here is that the phone was not enabled to push emails and he also disabled the “blazing 3G speed” setting.”

“One user reported that he was recording video when the phone became very hot and died. Another — this is on the Apple Web site, in the forums — says there is a heat sensor inside that will record overheating and can be used to demand a replacement phone from the folks at the Genius Bar“.
