Tata has recently launched the cheapest car in the world, price 100,000 rupees (Roughly $2100 or 1400 pounds ), 5 seater ,a length of 3.1 metres, width of 1.5 metres and height of 1.6 metres. The car is popularly known as “Lakhtakia” ( 1 lakh(0.1 million) rupees product). While Nano has quite amazing looks considering its price but how it performs on the roads especially the Indian Roads and rural ares (for which it claims to have been made) is yet to be confirmed.
Nano stands among top innovations of this decade , which has brought Tata Motors chairman Ratan Tata to the top 100 thinkers of the century in Business world and many other top magazines of the world. Nano is currently the cheapest car and the bookings were as expected over crowded(Around 2.06 lakh ).
It is interesting fact that many big car manufacturing companies like Volks Wagan and Rolls Royce used a similar strategy in initial years of 20 th century ,which gave them the boost to launch themselves into bigger corporations. Tata Nano would sell for 1 lakh rupees to first 1 lakh customers and then the price would increase by about 10-12 thousand rupees which includes the tax and opther accessories.
Nano has passed various preliminary tests by Britain’s Vehicle Certification Authority lateral and frontal impact tests.Initially there were concerns that its rudimentary nature might fall short of stringent European safety standards, but these have diminished following an impressive performance at the Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA) proving ground last week.
Tata Nano would enter other markets America within 2 years and can be expected to arrive in Britain and other European markets by 2012.
